Garden Talk With Grandfather

Every year my father, known around the neighborhood as Grandpa Joe, boldly claims that he will have a ripe tomato by July 4th. This year, I visited his garden to see if he could justify his claim. What follows is his attempt to sell the world on his first "ripe" tomato.

That tomato looked ripe to me. What do you call ripe? It was not blood red but I'd still call it ripe. Given' your grandpa a hard time - shame on you.

Just kidding, it reminds me of my ex-mother-in-law. She taught me how to garden, can, pickle, and freeze. I think I grew every possible thing there was to grow and some stuff that I never did identify.

Still fighting my squirrels.

First off, the man in the video is my father. I called him "Grandfather" because around his neighborhood, all the kids call him "Grandpa Joe."

I was just razzing him a bit. Personally, I would have picked that tomato a few days ago.
